Confused...dazed...amazed....but not fazed...

This kinda makes me sad but then again it has a way of recharging weak batteries. I didn't really think that voter suppression was a state by state conspiracy to disenfranchise as many lower classes as possible, that just didn't make any sense to me. Why would an aging, slow to change political party choose a strategy of closing the polls when it would be easier to moderate the message and continue to split and fracture the lower classes and then legitimately take power. Pretty much worked for a little German dude with a fucked up mustache, although it must be said that there is a Hanes commercial where it looks like Michael Jordan is trying to rock the Adolf on the humble.  But the issue here isn't one of the NBA's greatest feeling that he has enough juice to bring back the mini dictator mustache, the issue here is how I feel the Republican party, the party of Lincoln, the opposing party to the Dixiecrats, a party that could be able to pivot away from the lunatic fringe and find itself swelling with a new younger membership that would fully embrace a philosophy of self reliance and personal accountability that truthfully....anyone who really has come up from nothing already understands. Anyone who really has made the move from poverty or even lower middle class can attest to the fact that there are moments in life when nobody, no organization or program gives a fuck about the problem currently ruining your particular life. It's at that moment when the Democratic response is to cry louder and make the government fix the problem. I think the Republican response to that same problem is to say, fuck it...get out of my way and let me fix this shit myself. And here is the best part...if I fix it myself that means I keep the money. Yeah, I get that on a much larger scale that doesn't work and in practice rarely works anymore. But for the individual voter, especially in times as fucked up as these, to tell that person that rather than wait on anyone or anything to make your situation better....get up...and get your own future made on your own terms. It means for most people just more rejection and more doors slammed in the face, but again I return to the unscientific opinion that everyone I know who achieved anything did so only after they had been rejected by damn near everyone and anyone who had the cognitive skill to say "fuck no." Maybe it's because there is something in being rejected that either makes you stronger and more determined or it makes you reevaluate and change the strategy or perhaps even abandon it completely.  And here is where I think the Repubs miss one huge opportunity.  Every hustler, gangster, racketeer I have ever met had to make their nut just like everyone else, nobody handed them shit. Either take it or make it but you got to get yours.  Sounds like crime is built on the Republican model. So maybe I shouldn't even be surprised that Republican state legislatures and others in power have really done a time machine worthy reversal of voting regulations so that in some states this shit is almost exactly like it was for minority folk in the 1950 and 60's.  Do they really think this shit will stand up to court scrutiny? It never has before so what do they think is going to be different this time? The best thing about conservative legal minds is they are still legal minds and whenever we do really egregiously fucked up shit in America...eventually even the minds who at one time defended a fucked up idea...come around to what is best for freedom.  So even though I readily admit I am floored...really blown away by these sloppy attempts at stealing their way back into power...I'm not the least bit worried about the future....the best part about democracy is that it's like water against a rock....it may take generations to right these new wrongs but so what....right stays right no matter how long it takes to make it right.
